Todd Goldstein says North Melbourne is still very much in the race for September action.
The critics have circled after the Roos’ disappointing second half performance against Collingwood, but the in-form ruckman is confident he and his teammates can bounce back.
“We’re doing many things right, it’s just about getting that consistency through the four quarters,” Goldstein told The Mercury.
“We know our last two performances haven’t been acceptable — except the first half last week, which was the best we’ve played all year.
“It’s not acceptable the way we’ve been going and we need to make a stand.”
Goldstein was one of the few Kangaroos to stamp his mark on the game in a forgettable third term on Sunday.
But only a whole-team performance will turn the team’s fortunes.
“The biggest problem was we went away from the way we want to play,” Goldstein added.
“And for whatever reason that was, it really hurt us.
“It’s about backing our plan and not going away from our roles and the game plan.”
Goldstein said the Roos will be looking for a return to playing "Kangas footy".
“It’s when we attack, we’re attacking with flare, we’re taking the game on,” Goldstein said.
“And when we don’t have the ball we’re making it hard for the opposition to take it down the other end and score.
“If we go away from those two things, we go from being a good football team to an average one.”
The North big man is set for an intriguing battle against high-flying Eagle Nic Naitanui.
