New addition Griffin Logue has said it was a "no-brainer" choosing North Melbourne as the 2022 season drew to a close.

After requesting a trade to the club in mid-September, Logue officially joined the club on Wednesday.

"It was a fair process ahead of (the completed deal) and something I'm pretty new to but it's been great so far and it's only early days but it feels good," Logue told North Media.

Having made his decision to come to Arden St a couple of weeks ago, the deal, like many, took its time to come to fruition.

"It’s a pretty long process which is something I wasn’t really prepared for, I guess, and it's not something that I ever had prepared to do from the start of the year," Logue said.

"But as the year went on it was a bit of a no-brainer in the end, and once I’d met 'Clarko' (incoming senior coach Alastair Clarkson) and went from there it kind of gave me a lot of confidence that I’d made the right choice."

Despite being from Western Australia, the former top-10 draft selection touched on what drew him in.

"Plenty. It's obviously a great spot in the town and I grew up in Western Australia so it’s a lot different to there," he said.

"It’s a good group of guys, and the history of the club and where it's situated really appeals to me."

Logue featured at both ends of the field for Fremantle throughout the 2022 campaign but knows which area he wishes to feature in.

"Preferably back. I've been thrown around a bit, but I've enjoyed it," Logue mentioned.

"Everyone likes going forward and kicking a few but I much prefer to try and stop them to be honest, so (being) down back is for me."
