Lindsay Thomas says he will be doing his all to earn back the respect of his team-mates after copping a two-match suspension.

The small-forward accepted a charge of head-butting on Tuesday, and will now be forced to sit out vital games over the next fortnight.

“It was a silly thing to do and I’ve got to pay the consequences now and miss two games. That’s the most disappointing thing,” he told the media at Aegis Park.

Thomas apologised to the playing group on Monday and will strive to right his wrongs on the training track.

“I just let the boys know how disappointed I was in myself and I’ll do everything I can to get their respect back.

“It’ll be disappointing to watch from the sidelines when we’ve got a big game this week.  It’s a big game for our season and to miss it by suspension is very silly.

“I just have to do everything I can to get back in the team, and hopefully I can continue where I left off.”

Thomas, who sits just two goals behind Coleman Medal leader Josh Kennedy admits that’s the last thing on his mind.

“It’s nothing that I’ve been thinking about too much, but in terms of my season… I’m having a good season up to date, and to miss games of footy through suspension is very disappointing.”

Coach Brad Scott will now face the task of filling the void left by his leading goal-kicker.

“He (Scott) was pretty disappointed.  It was something that I usually don’t do,” Thomas added.

“I suppose you can call it a brain-fade. I’m not going to make any excuses.  It was a silly thing to do at the time.  The game was done and dusted and to do something like that I can see why he’d be upset at me.  He let me know that I just had to move on from it now and train well and hopefully I can get back in two weeks’ time.”
