The AFL is pleased to announce the Colgate AFL Grand Final Sprint will return to the home of footy and take place pre-match at the 2022 Toyota AFL Grand Final on September 24, 2022.

Colgate, the Official Smile of the AFL and AFLW, will host the race on the iconic MCG for the first time since 2019. The sprint will resume its traditional format with participants from each of the 18 clubs battling to determine the quickest of the league.

The 18 participants will compete in a 100m sprint along the 50m arc to echo the shape of the iconic Colgate smile.

AFL Executive General Manager of Customer and Commercial, Kylie Rogers said the sprint is a much-loved tradition which the AFL is excited to bring back to the MCG.

“To have a player from each club in the same event is a big feat considering the trying circumstances of the past two years.

We can’t wait to showcase the AFL’s athletic ability whilst putting on a show to remember on one of the biggest days in the Australian Sporting Calendar,” Ms. Rogers said.

Colgate became the Official Smile of the AFL and AFLW in 2020. Both the AFL and Colgate share a vision to create a positive legacy for all Australians, with a shared belief that all Australians deserve a future they can smile about.

Colgate’s Marketing Director, South Pacific, Anthony Crewes, said “the team is excited to watch all the action at the 2022 AFL Grand Final.

“Colgate is all about optimism in action and inspiring your inner optimist. We are proud to be bringing the Colgate Grand Final Sprint back to the MCG on Grand Final day,” Mr. Crewes said.

Colgate will again make a $5,000 donation to Ladder, an organisation providing young people mentoring and support through the Ladder Program, in honour of the winner.
