40-plus possession games are hard to ignore at any level and Ben Jacobs certainly grabbed the attention of North’s match committee after a scorching game with North Ballarat on the weekend. The midfielder slotted four goals to go with his 42 touches and has been named in the Roos' 25-man squad to take on the Eagles in Perth.

Jacobs’ last game was against Collingwood in Round 5.

Also named is consistent VFL performer Liam Anthony who is still to break into the senior side for his first game of the year. Despite receiving a corked leg for the Roosters, the experienced 26-year-old managed to amass 21 disposals and 7 marks against Bendigo.

It’s been a long time between drinks for Anthony, the last time he pulled on the royal blue and white stripes was in Round 13 last season against Fremantle.

In a move to bolster its tall stocks, North has also opted to bring Daniel Currie into the squad. With the likes of Dean Cox, Nic Naitanui, Josh Kennedy, Eric McKenzie and Jack Darling roaming around Patersons Stadium, Currie could be called on.

Aaron Mullett has also been named with Joel Tippett the only out after tearing his pectoral muscle in Geelong.

North will name its final side on Friday afternoon.
