Over the course of the season, North Melbourne’s Twitter handle - @northkangaroos – asked fans which plays they would like to see made into gifs.

Now with the year having come to a close, the best 32 gifs will battle against each other to take out the inaugural gif of the year title.

It will all be decided by you. There will be two matchups a day, with the voting period approximately 24 hours for each one.

The full draw will be revealed at the conclusion of the first round.

Match 5

Todd Goldstein’s deft tap (Round 11) v Brent Harvey sits on the fence (Round 12)

For a 201cm ruckman, Goldstein is often a quicker thinker than many other players on the field who are much smaller and faster.

It proved that way against the Eagles. With a handball from Harvey coming his way, Goldstein realised he would have quickly been tackled he gained possession.  A quick tap back without taking the Sherrin gave his team-mate unexpected space to run into.

Often a game throws up some unexpected outcomes, and North orchestrating a 63 point turnaround against Richmond was certainly one of those.
After Harvey’s final term goal, he decided to take a seat with the Tigers’ cheer squad.

Match 6

Shaun Atley’s one-handed mark (Round 3) v Jamie Macmillan’s smother (Round 2)

Normally playing in defence means a rolling catalogue of spoils and percentage plays, but Atley bucked the trend against Port Adelaide when opposed by Hamish Hartlett.

Atley had the best position as the ball arrived at the defensive goalsquare, but only had one arm to work with, the other being held by his opponent.

It didn’t matter for the number 18, as he coolly took a one-handed mark and rebounded from 50.

Atley comes up against a fellow Pirate in Macmillan.

When North faced the Western Bulldogs, Luke Dahlhaus was seemingly about to stroll in to an open goal. Macmillan came out of nowhere, barely in camera frame, and swatted his shot on goal to safety.
