Ruckmen are notoriously volatile in fantasy. Often these players can be stars one year and fade into obscurity the next. Two examples from 2013 were Ivan Maric and Ben McEvoy – both were top 5 options at the start of 2014 and averaged less than 80-points for the year.

With this in mind and given the top-dollar attributes of many of this year’s ruck crop, we’re going to lock in just one premium ruckman, who we hope will be a set and forget option. The remaining ruck spots will either be filled by underpriced potential guns, or rookies.

The player we select out of this next group is the premium option, and the one that will form the backbone of this team in 2014. Here’s hoping we avoid the ruck curse this year.
