Over the course of the season, North Melbourne’s Twitter handle - @northkangaroos – asked fans which plays they would like to see made into gifs.

Now with the year having come to a close, the best 32 gifs will battle against each other to take out the inaugural gif of the year title.

We’re now down to the last eight, with the quarter finals upon us. The voting period will continue to be approximately 24 hours for each match.

The full draw can be viewed at the bottom of the page.

Quarter Final 3

Kayne Turner’s crunching tackle (Round 22) v #4: Ben Cunnington’s fend off (Round 10)

Late in North’s thrilling defeat of Adelaide, it appeared that the Crows were about to work a shot on goal and cut the margin to within a goal.

Out of nowhere, Turner appeared and chased down Rory Laird, knocking the ball out of his hand and allowing the Kangaroos to regroup in a critical passage of the game.

Round 1: Defeated Kayne Turner’s bump with 75 per cent of the vote
Round 2: Defeated Daniel Wells’ candy with 80 per cent of the vote

One of the most viewed gifs of the year was a demonstration of Cunnington’s brute strength against Geelong’s Travis Varcoe.

Varcoe attempted to grab the arm of Cunnington, but the Kangaroos’ midfielder was having none of it and brushed him aside before running forward.

Round 1: Defeated Ben Cunnington’s fend off with 96 per cent of the vote
Round 2: Defeated Shaun Atley dummies Pendlebury with 84 per cent of the vote

Quarter Final 4

Todd Goldstein’s mark (Semi Final) v Luke McDonald’s courage (Round 11)

Goldstein’s match-saving mark in the semi-final victory became an instant classic for North fans.

The ruckman stood tall in the defensive 50 against a rampaging Cats’ forward line, taking a strong contested mark to drag the Kangaroos through to the preliminary final.

Round 1: Defeated Drew Petrie’s chase down tackle with 82 per cent of the vote
Round 2: Defeated ‘Are You Kidding?!’ with 82 per cent of the vote

This act of courage by the first-year Roo earned him the Mazda Spirit Award, as voted on by NMFC.com.au viewers.

Backing back with the flight of the ball, McDonald threw himself in front of West Coast key forward Josh Kennedy and braced for the collision.

Despite being on the receiving end of a heavy hit, the left-footer was able to get almost straight back up, grit his teeth and play his role in an important Kangaroos’ win.

Round 1: Defeated Scott Thompson’s tackle with 81 per cent of the vote
Round 2: Defeated Sam Wright’s mark with 57 per cent of the vote
