The North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos have farewelled Kaitlyn Ashmore after agreeing to a trade with Hawthorn today.
The Kangaroos will receive national pick 51 in return for the 30-year-old.
After two seasons with the Brisbane Lions, Ashmore joined the Kangaroos for the 2019 season, their first in the AFLW competition.
Ashmore provided experience and versatility, playing a multitude of roles across her four seasons in the royal blue and white. Ashmore was at her damaging best up forward in 2020, finishing the season as leading goalkicker before a move to the wing in 2021.
A proud Indigenous woman, Ashmore made a significant contribution to the club’s off-field work in the Indigenous space and has continued to immerse herself in learning about her own family history.
“Kashy was a pioneer of our women’s program, and has made a fantastic contribution over her four seasons here,” AFLW list and performance manager Rhys Harwood said.
“Kashy has had a significant impact on our club both on and off field. She has been an incredibly consistent performer on field and has been an important contributor off field to all aspects of the football club.
“We thank her for her enormous contribution, and we wish her well with her next opportunity at Hawthorn.”
Ashmore has played 49 AFLW games so far in her career, 33 for North Melbourne.
