North Melbourne has joined forces with Australian Prostate Cancer Research (APCR) to help fight prostate cancer.
This Friday night’s blockbuster will also be known as the ‘Clash For Prostate’, with footy fans urged to learn more about prostate cancer.
The shocking fact is that 1 in 5 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, but with regular health check-ups, we can increase early detection and improve men’s quality of life.
As an official charity partner of North Melbourne, APCR will play a big part in Friday’s game, as the APCR and Roos help to spread the word about the importance of men’s health checks.
APCR CEO Mark Harrison said: “It is our vision that no man dies of prostate cancer. Thanks to the invaluable support from organisations such as North Melbourne and the AFL, this vision can be realised”.
AFL CEO Gil McLachlan has also thrown his support behind the cause.
“This is an incredibly important cause that directly, or indirectly affects most, if not all of us,” McLachlan said.
“The work APCR is doing will go a long way in helping tackle this disease, and we thoroughly support them.”
APCR’s Prostate Cancer Centre, located in North Melbourne, is a world leading men’s facility which not only offers bulk-billed health checks to any man with a Medicare card, but manages specialist treatment and care for men with prostate cancer and other issues below the belt.
This exciting partnership demonstrates the commitment of North Melbourne to men’s health, and the recognition of the important work of APCR and its dedication to improving the odds.
