After becoming North Melbourne’s newest Shinboner on the weekend, Miller Bergman is set for a stint on the sidelines following a shoulder dislocation in the opening term of Saturday’s clash with Carlton.

Bergman suffered the injury after being tackled to the ground by Carlton's Matthew Owies on what was his first ever possession at senior level. He was immediately substituted out of the game.

General Manager of Football Performance Dan McPherson says the club will have more information about Bergman's injury soon.

"We'll get a surgeon to have a look at Miller's shoulder in the coming days to see if any intervention needs to occur from that perspective, but we won't know a lot until that happens later in the week," McPherson told North Media.

"We'll then have more clarity on the full extent of the injury and get a better idea of the estimated timeframe for his return to play."

The hamstring worry experienced by livewire Tarryn Thomas is a non-issue according to McPherson. The midfielder was sent for precautionary scans following Saturday’s game.

Thomas has only recently come back from an internal bruising injury suffered against West Coast in Round 2.

"Tarryn just had a bit of hamstring tightness late in the game. Given we've got a short turnaround ahead of our next game, we got a scan done so we could get some clarity on whether there was anything to be worried about," McPherson said.

"The scan came back clear so he should be fine to play this weekend."

Eddie Ford will be unavailable for the immediate future after suffering an ankle injury at training last week.

The young forward kicked his first goal of the season in Round 5 against the Western Bulldogs before being named as an unused medical substitute in Round 6 before suffering the knock.

McPherson says Ford, who is currently in a moon boot, will return to light work in the not too distant future.

"It looks like a syndesmosis injury for Eddie, so he's in a moon boot and on crutches at the moment. He'll be non-weight bearing for a few days now," he said.

"Hopefully he'll be available to play again in the next three to four weeks."

The Kangaroos' defence is set for a boost this weekend against Fremantle with Aidan Corr likely to make his return from the illness that kept him out of the Carlton clash.

Corr was initially listed as out of the side due to health and safety protocols but, in fact, contracted a different illness.

McPherson says the number 4 is likely to return to training on Tuesday.

"Aidan was just a bit crook over the weekend. We expect he'll be back at the club for our main training session and should be available to play Friday," he said.

Charlie Comben is also expected to put his hand up for selection this weekend after recovering from the knee issue that sidelined him from North's VFL clash at Ikon Park.

Comben has been in fine form for the reserve side so far this season with his best performance coming in the Round 4 victory over Footscray.

"Charlie's knee blew up a bit late last week. It became clear that it wasn’t an infection, but the swelling was significant, so our medical team drained some fluid out of it. He seems to have bounced back well, so we expect he will be available to play this weekend," McPherson said.

First-year player Josh Goater will miss this weekend’s action after suffering a concussion in the first term of the VFL clash with Carlton.

Playing out of the backline, Goater hit his head on the ground after flying for a mark in the first quarter. As per the AFL's concussion protocols he'll miss this weekend's game.

"Josh is feeling pretty good after his concussion but obviously he won't play this week. At this stage everything points to him just missing the one week," McPherson said.
