With the 2012 National Draft looming, phantom drafts from the experts are the only way to get an insight into what could happen at Metricon Stadium.

North Melbourne will have six 'live' picks at the Draft - 15, 38, 42, 48, 58 and 63. Picks 78, 92 and 103 will be used to upgrade Majak Daw, Sam Gibson and Aaron Mullett to the senior list for 2013.

Here are the predictions from The Herald Sun, The Age, and afl.com.au.

AFL.com.au - Callum Twomey

Twomey has North Melbourne picking Nathan Hrovat with its first selection. Already with a Kangaroos connection - Brent Harvey's father-in-law lives in the same street as Hrovat - Twomey describes the 175cm midfielder as "...a busy player. He's quick to shoot off handballs, spins out of trouble and hits targets on both feet. He takes lots of short quick steps when in the clear and keeps his feet when fighting for the ball."

Twomey also reaffirms North's interest in Ben Jacobs, but says the Roos 'will have a nervous wait when Essendon takes its pick three selections ahead of it.'

"Gold Coast defender Taylor Hine is also set to join the club deeper into the draft. From there, the Kangaroos have another few picks and they could go a roughie or two. One they might consider is Josh Woolley a little bit later, a tall half-back flanker from Tasmania with nice skills."

Herald Sun - Jay Clark, Sam Landsberger

Much like the AFL's prediction, both Jay Clark and Sam Landsberger also have Hrovat at Aegis Park with pick 15. The duo describe him as 'a clearance specialist, like Sam Mitchell. Tackle machine...would play forward early for Roos'.

However Landsberger also suggests North could have a look at Ben Kennedy, saying 'the Roos like him at 15.'

The Herald Sun says Kennedy is a left-footed midfielder with breakaway speed, who excels around stoppages and delivers the ball beautifully inside 50 metres.

The Age - Emma Quayle

While Quayle has departed from the 'traditional' phantom draft format and simply named who she believes to be the most talented players, there are a few names thrown up for discussion around North's first pick.

Kennedy and Hrovat are mentioned once more, as well as Taylor Garner with North bundled with a few other clubs 'that will take a look'. In mentioning Garner, Quayle says 'his shoulders are a bit loose'.
