Majak Daw is eyeing a return to full-training in a few short weeks with the 22-year-old's recovery from a knee operation almost complete.

Director of Football Geoff Walsh says Daw could be available for Brad Scott's in the opening round and may even feature in a NAB Challenge match.

"Majak's not far off full training," Walsh told NMFC.com.au.

"The latest from the medicos is he'll probably be available for Round One so that being the case, we're hopeful he'll be available for the back half of the NAB series."

North's rehab group will be diminishing over the coming weeks as most players return to training and push for selection in the upcoming practice matches.

Leigh Adams had minor arthroscopic surgery on his knee and shoulder at the end of 2013 and has been on a modified program since.

"Leigh is probably a week or two behind Majak. I think he might be available for selection in the last NAB game," Walsh said.

Robbie Tarrant's pre-season has also been limited.

"We expect Robbie to play a couple of NAB games at least; he's not far off full training."

Cameron Delaney and Aaron Mullett have both battled frustrating toe injuries but will make their way back shortly.

"I spoke to Cam yesterday, he's hopeful that he may get some action in the first NAB round, if not, soon after that.

"Aaron was running solidly at training yesterday. He'll see some NAB action, probably in the middle of the series."

Ben Brown's minor ankle injury has limited his training but the Tasmanian will aim to impress when he returns to main skills.

"Ben will probably spend most of the NAB series ramping up his training; we hope to get some NAB action out of him in the last game or two."

Levi Greenwood is making positive steps after a foot injury and will also put his hand up for a comeback in the pre-season campaign.

Meanwhile, Andrew Swallow's persistence and determination in his recovery from a devastating achilles injury is beginning to pay off.

"Originally we said Andrew would be available for Round Eight or Nine, but I think he's a fair way ahead of that," Walsh added.

"I would think we'll see him play somewhere in the first month of the regular season. We would expect him to return to full training probably by the end of February. He's been pretty diligent, as you would expect with his rehab and it seems to be coming together pretty well."

Tom Curran's dedication has been unwavering as he works tirelessly on the foot which has undergone three operations in his short time at Arden Street.

"Tommy's our longest term issue; it's a 'softly softly' approach with his foot after he's had a couple of setbacks over the years. I don't think we'll see him return to games until the middle part of the year.

"He'll keep gradually stepping it up and meeting every challenge as it gets ramped up."
