The 18 AFL captains have gazed into the crystal ball and there is one player leading the way in their predictions for the 2022 NAB AFL Rising Star award.

Seven skippers think North Melbourne's No.1 pick Jason Horne-Francis will claim the 2022 Ron Evans Medal (captains had to vote for a player from another club, so surely Jack Ziebell would have picked him, too).

Horne-Francis has enjoyed a brilliant first pre-season at Arden Street, with highlights including an intraclub screamer and a cracking goal in the AAMI Community Series clash against Sydney.

Five skippers tipped Collingwood's Nick Daicos to win the award, while Adelaide's Josh Rachele (two votes), Sydney's Logan McDonald, GWS' Finn Callaghan, the Western Bulldogs' Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and Hawthorn's Josh Ward were the other players tipped.

The captains also predicted the other clubs to make the top eight, Brownlow Medal winner and more.
