Clearly the largest crowd in home games against Fremantle at the ground, 26,482 people attended to mark the 'Box On' debt reduction game. Interim chief executive officer Cam Vale labeled the crowd number as 'unbelievable'.
"It exceeded expectations and really shows what can happen when we get on and off-field ticking in the same direction. It was just an amazing result.
"With an average of around 18,000 against interstate clubs, to get 26,482 at the game on Sunday was just outstanding," Vale added.
More than one million dollars has been knocked off the debt thanks to the loyal members.
The 22 who took the field wore a special debt reduction guernsey to recognise all those who had made a bronze, silver or gold pledge.
While the guernsey didn't bring the desired result on-field, Vale said it was as a positive.
"It's a really good reflection on all the members that have contributed to the campaign which has raised more than a million dollars."
And there's more to come.
"Box On will continue in 2013 and beyond with different products and programs because next year we have to target another million dollars and give this club a real chance to return to the top of the ladder."
"From everyone at the club, we just want to reiterate how grateful we all our to our loyal fans for their passion and support this year. There have been some tough periods, but everyone really stuck with us and we sincerely hope they enjoy the finals and the bright future ahead."
