Flynn Appleby has capped off an impressive individual campaign by being named in the VFL Team of the Year.
Named on the interchange, the half-back flanker was a near ever-present in North Melbourne’s side this year, capably leading his team to a drastic turnaround in form in the second half of the season.
The class and composure of the former AFL-listed Magpie were crucial to North registering tight victories over the likes of Essendon and Werribee, after a difficult start to the campaign.
Averaging 17.2 disposals, 5.5 intercepts and 87.7 per cent disposal efficiency across his nine games, Appleby’s selection in the Team of the Year follows his third-place finish in the John Law Medal, where he was also awarded the Best Clubman Award.
