Brent Harvey is set to take another step towards the magical 400-barrier on Friday night, and with it he’ll move into illustrious company.

The 36-year-old will line up for his 383rd appearance in North Melbourne colours, joining Robert Harvey in equal fourth for the most games played in VFL/AFL history.

Only Dustin Fletcher (393), Kevin Bartlett (403) and Michael Tuck (426) stand between the number 29 and the top spot, and in his current form there’s no reason he couldn't make a charge at the record.

Harvey’s longevity is highlighted in the numbers; he sits sixth all-time for disposals (8,103 at 21.2 a game), and has registered more inside 50’s than any other player (1,460 at 4 a game).

He’s registered 953 running bounces (2.79 a game since stat recorded in 199), 283 more than his closest rival Rhyce Shaw, and sits second for goal assists (0.81 a game since stat recorded in 2003).

But perhaps Harvey’s greatest asset of all is his ability to continue to perform. In his 19th season, he’s averaging career-high disposal (26 a game) and tackle (2.9 a game) numbers.

A five-time Syd Barker Medalist, Harvey has enjoyed a remarkable career and some amazing moments, but after a frustrating spell on the sidelines, he’ll be hoping Friday night provides the greatest memories of all.
