Dawson was plucked from Williamstown with pick No.2 in the 2022 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft and played five senior games over his first two seasons.
A natural interceptor, he is light on his feet, comfortable in possession and has developed his one-on-one game over a long apprenticeship.

2024: Dawson stepped up to become a first-team regular, and featured in the Roos’ first four matches before an ankle injury at training punched a hole in his season.
He returned for the Roos’ breakthrough win over West Coast in Round 13 and kicked his first career goal in a home win over Gold Coast in Round 17.
