A mature key defender, Dawson arrived at North Melbourne with pick No.2 in the 2022 mid-season draft.
He debuted for the club later that year before playing the final the final three games of the season and impressing with not only his general defensive work but his agility as well.

2023: Dawson was the linchpin of the VFL side's defence in 2023, playing all 18 games.
It wasn't until Round 24 that the key defender was given the opportunity to play his first AFL game of the season. He tallied nine disposals, four intercept possessions, and a pair of intercept marks in the stellar win over the Suns.
