NATHAN Djerrkura will change clubs in 2011 after the Western Bulldogs and Geelong struck a deal to send the midfielder to Whitten Oval.

The AFL is yet to receive the official paperwork but the Cats will receive a third-round draft pick for Djerrkura, who struggled to break into the all-conquering Geelong line-up during four seasons at the club.

While the draft order is subject to change before next month's NAB AFL Draft, that third-round selection sits at 57.

Djerrkura, who is in the Northern Territory working on an indigenous community program with Geelong forward Travis Varcoe, was pleased to hear his former club had facilitated the trade.

"He's had a bit of interest from a few clubs but the Bulldogs have been pretty active for a while now, particularly over the last week," his manager George Haros told afl.com.au's Trade Week Radio.

"He was open to certain offers but the Bulldogs all along have been a preference for Nathan given his initial meetings and rapport with the coaching staff."

Djerrkura is the Bulldogs' fourth recruit this week, joining former Sydney Swan Patrick Veszpremi and father-son selections Mitch Wallis and Tom Liberatore.

The 22-year-old played just four games in his time at Skilled Stadium, making his debut against Essendon in 2009.

He played just once in 2010 and requested a trade late in the season.

"Nathan thought that he would get some greater opportunities at another club, and we understand his point of view," Geelong general manager of football operations Neil Balme told geelongcats.com.au.

"The Bulldogs' offer was a fair one and we wish Nathan well and thank him for his efforts while he was here.

"He is a fine young man and we hope that he can get an opportunity to play more regularly with the Dogs."

Haros said Djerrkura left Geelong with no ill feeling, but he was keen to add to the Bulldogs' attacking structure as a small crumbing forward.

"It was obviously a tremendous time to be part of the footy club with such immense success over a short period," he said.

"He certainly developed some strong friendships and has been privileged to play with some tremendous players.

"At the same time, the lack of opportunity has been difficult for him to deal with and he's certainly looking forward to a fresh start with the Bulldogs."
