After two seasons at the Western Bulldogs, Lachie Young will no doubt be feeling a bit of déjà vu when he runs out against his old team on Friday.

But the athletic defender has no doubt as to where his allegiances lie and is purely focused on continuing his strong start at North Melbourne.

“The decision (to move) was a no-brainer and I’ve been really happy with the move to North,” Young told SEN on Thursday.

“I suppose when you cross that line you become enemies for that two hours, then after the game it’s all good and you have a chat and a bit of a laugh about it.”

While he's still only 21, Young’s two seasons at 'the kennel' have given him plenty of extra insight.

“It’s obviously pretty exciting. I know a fair bit about them (the Bulldogs), so it was pretty helpful in the team meeting this week,” he said.

“I was only there for two years, but I still have mates at the Bulldogs who I speak to regularly.”

Young has played the two first games of 2021 as a Kangaroo, and impressed with his cool-head and defensive nous.

He's also formed a strong bond with a fellow new face, coach David Noble.

“Nobes has been really good. He’s been an experienced head for a young group,” Young said.

“He’s been really good with his game plan and what he wants to implement week in, week out.”

“We’ve now just got to put it into practice … you’ll see a different North Melbourne this Friday than what you saw last weekend against Gold Coast.”
