Nathan Grima is hot property. The budding media star and fan favourite of North Melbourne could add coaching to his resume.
The 29-year-old hasn't ruled himself out of the race for the Clarence coaching job in Tasmania according to the Hobart Mercury.
Grima had a career-ending third operation on his back last week and is at home recuperating but said a move back home with his fiancé could be on the cards in the near future.
"I didn't completely rule it out, because Jacinta and I are keen to move back there at some stage," Grima said.
"It would need to line up perfectly to make me want to make the move from Melbourne back to Hobart, that's for sure."
While coaching could be an option, the 83-game player would prefer to try his hand in the media first.
"The thing I want to try to focus on is some media work in Melbourne and I've been lucky enough to have done some stuff, radio and on TV," he said.
"I don't want to skip away from the footy bubble if that's a legitimate option for me to get some media work, especially with SEN Radio.
"I've worked on breakfast radio on a show with SEN.
"I think a move to Tassie would be only if I could get some sort of morning radio breakfast-type show, which would keep open my options for a secondary career because I don't particularly want to put all my eggs in the coaching basket."
"It's getting harder and harder to get players back there [to the TSL], especially with the amount of money they are paying players to play football in other states.
Grima said the ongoing issues with discs in his back was debilitating but he hoped to play footy again one day at local level.
"I'm 90 per cent certain the discs will fuse and if they do I can play footy next year. But I will never play AFL again," he said.
