Atu Bosenavulagi’s ability to adapt to new roles has been one of his greatest qualities since arriving at North Melbourne, according to assistant coach John Blakey.
During his time at Collingwood, Bosenavulagi played primarily as a forward or winger, but has impressed in training as a defender this pre-season.
“We’ve actually changed his role to take him down back,” Blakey told North Media.
“His ability to close and shut out an opponent is so good … he’s been pigeonholed as a forward but is able to do both.”
Due to the number of capable forwards on North’s list, Bosenavulagi’s versatility has improved his chances of securing game time at AFL level.
“He’s very aggressive in the way that he approaches the ball … he is able to break a line, because he’s so fast,” Blakey added.
“We’re feeling our way with him a little bit … but it gives him another avenue to come into the side.”
Despite missing the practice game against St Kilda, Bosenavulagi has been pushing his case for selection with strong training performances.
