Kangaroos great Dr Allen Aylett was inducted as a Legend into the Kangaroos Hall of Fame at an awards ceremony last night at the MCG.

Aylett joins Games Record holder Wayne Schimmelbusch and former player and administrator John Dugdale as Hall of Fame Legends at Arden St.

More than 350 guests honoured Aylett and his wife Marj, who last night was awarded Life Membership of the club, at the invitation only function at the home of football.

The guest list was a who’s who of Australian Rules football.

The gathering heard tributes from legends including Ron Barassi, Bob Skilton, Neil Roberts, Murray Weidemann, Kevin Murray as well as Aylett’s Kangaroos team-mates including Dugdale and Laurie Dwyer.

AFL Chief Executive Andrew Demetriou, chief football writer Mike Sheahan and Geelong legend Bob Davis also paid tribute to the Doc.

Despite the week of turmoil, coaching greats Kevin Sheedy and Denis Pagan turned up to honour Aylett.

Fifteen of the Kangaroos inaugural 1975 premiership team made it to the function including Barry Cable, Malcolm Blight, Barry Davis, Sam Kekovich and Doug Wade.

Present-day and former rival club presidents Frank Costa, Ian Dicker and Rod Butterss, as well high-profile administrators Geoff Walsh and Greg Miller were also in attendance.

Other notable guests included 1983 Brownlow Medallist Ross Glendinning, Kangaroos dual-premiership and Team of the Century Captain Wayne Carey as well as Kangaroos coach Dean Laidley, Shinboner of the Century Glenn Archer and a majority of the Kangaroos 2007 senior players.
