Daniel Wells is a chance to line up for North Melbourne against the Bombers this weekend, despite suffering a severe corked leg on Sunday.
The star midfielder suffered the contusion during the clash with St Kilda, however willed himself back on to the ground in the dying stages to play a vital role in the win.
North Director of Football Geoff Walsh told NMFC.com.au Wells would be given the week to prove his fitness.
“Daniel has pulled up quite well considering how severe the corky was,” Walsh said.
“We’re hopeful he will be available for selection, but we’ll have to see how he trains this week. With a six day break, time obviously plays a role in his recovery, but our medical team will do everything they can to make sure he’s fit.”
Sam Wright will also face a fitness test after he was a late withdrawal against the Saints on Sunday after failing to recover from his ankle injury sustained in North’s Round 6 win over the Bulldogs.
“Sam just wasn’t able to get up and play on Sunday, so we’re hopeful he can return this weekend,” Walsh said.
“He’ll have to get through a few more sessions before he’s given the all-clear, so we’ll know where he’s at later in the week.”
Defender Lachlan Hansen will have to pass a concussion test after he was hit behind play in an off-the-ball incident.
“Lachie has recovered well, but we’ll go through all the required concussion tests this week before he’s given the all clear to play.”
Youngster Mitchell Hibberd will miss two to three weeks, after he suffered a displaced kneecap during Werribee’s loss to Williamstown on Saturday night.
“During the game his kneecap was displaced slightly but thankfully there is no long term damage. Mitch should only be on the sidelines for a fortnight or so before he’s able to make his return to competitive action,” Walsh added.
Walsh said the club was also awaiting further scans on Shaun Higgins’ knee, after a St Kilda defender fell awkwardly on the 28-year-old in the third quarter on Sunday, with an update expected soon.
Meanwhile, Joel Tippett has been declared fit to play and is expected to line up for Werribee this weekend after recovering from a transverse process in his back.
