A highly rated junior prospect, Luke Davies-Uniacke showed North Melbourne fans what he is truly capable of in the second half of 2020.

After being out for a year with a groin issue, ‘LDU’ returned to the Roos’ lineup in Round 8.

He made a quiet return, collecting just 7 disposals, but he exploded the next week against the Crows, kicking 2 goals from 17 touches.

It was his Round 12 performance against Brisbane that really got the North faithful most excited however, as he went head-to-head against one of the best midfields in the game.

His elite attributes were on display, with his ability to step and burst out of traffic catching the eye of many, and his playing style earning comparisons with Chris Judd.

The number 9 will be a key part of the Roos’ midfield over the coming years, and if he can stay fit, the sky’s the limit.

By the numbers

Davies-Uniacke’s average of 17.3 disposals was the highest of his career to date, as were his inside 50 (3.2) and clearance numbers (2.4).

He also rated above average for disposal efficiency (71.8%) and contested possession rate (45.6%).

Against Port Adelaide, his 16 contested possessions were the most on the ground, a remarkable achievement considering the likes of Travis Boak, Tom Rockliff and Ollie Wines all amassed more than 30 touches for the Power.

The big moment

Davies-Uniacke’s performance against Brisbane was a coming of age for the 21-year-old, and he grew in confidence from that point on.

A moment in the second quarter, where he burst out of congestion before finding Nick Larkey with a perfectly measured kick had North fans extremely excited.
