We would like to take the opportunity to once again thank our members for their incredible support in 2020.
As a show of our gratitude, we are offering each of our 38,667 members a free upgrade in 2021. More information about the upgrade process will reach inboxes in the coming weeks.
Recently, we asked our members to share their stories about fellow North Melbourne members.
There were a number of amazing entries which made picking the winners a very difficult choice, but the nominations were narrowed down to the three listed below, who will all have their memberships paid for in 2021.
Winner #1 - Deb Reilly
Deb is the President of the QLD North Melbourne Supporters Group. She has gone above and beyond week in and week out to ensure that those attending the games were able to get a ticket. Not only that she has organised pre-match functions including arranging special guests like Corey McKernan and Mark Roberts to come along to meet with our group. Deb and I have been to every game in QLD even though this year hasn’t been successful. Without thinking twice about it we have been there supporting our team regardless. She deserves this 100% - Lana Vasiliou
Winner #2 - Gareth Tregear
Gareth is my older brother. He's 12 years older than me and he's the reason I became a North Melbourne supporter. One of my earliest memories with him is at a Carlton game in the mid 80s. I was with my mum, who is a Carlton supporter. I threw a tantrum because I wanted to be with my big brother. On September 28th this year, he'll be celebrating his 50th birthday. I obviously won't be able to see him, but I can remember his 26th birthday... September 28th 1996. The day we beat Sydney in the grand final! I really don't know how many people can say they witnessed their team winning a Grand Final on their birthday! He's just an amazing brother and I don't have the words. He bought me my first scarf, which I still have, my first North toy, he probably even bought me my first jumper. He was a guy in his late teens dragging his little sister to the footy. 30 years on, we still go together if he's not working - Natalie Tregear
Winner #3 - Philip Ewing
I nominate my husband, a self-employed tradie, who like many others, has experienced a serious impact to his business since COVID began in March. Compounded by recent knee surgery to repair his broken knee, at no point in the journey (and it has been tough one) has he ever considered cancelling his membership. We even had our trips to Tassie booked in anticipation, which sadly never eventuated. On a side note, I have kept mine going too and I am not even a NM supporter but wanted to continue to support a club that means so much to my hubby - Carly Ewing
And although three winners were promised, we had to add a fourth, as Cheryl Roberts’ beautiful nomination couldn’t go unnoticed.
My name is Cheryl Roberts, sadly my youngest daughter Cheyenne passed away on 8th October 2014, the day before her 21st Birthday. She was an avid North supporter and has been a member for twelve years as I have kept her membership up to date since her passing, myself and my eldest daughter and my grandchildren go down to Arden Street every year on the 9th of October and let the blue and white balloons go up to the heavens to Cheyenne, and we sing happy birthday to her, but sadly we won’t able to this year. Thank you for this opportunity to let you know about my beautiful daughter Cheyenne Ada Roberts - Cheryl Roberts
Cheryl, Cheyenne’s membership is on us next year.
