More than 130 young people got some valuable insights and made some important new contacts as part of The Huddle’s annual Work Expo- proudly supported by the ETU.
Twenty local businesses and education institutions were part of last week’s expo, aimed at providing young people with a chance to think about their future careers, all while improving their own networking skills.
Deputy Premier the Hon. James Merlino officially opened the expo, while also sharing some of his own experiences in business and politics.
North Melbourne’s General Manager Community Engagement, Cameron McLeod, said the free event provided young people with a chance to think about where they see their future.
“We were delighted to see so many young people thinking seriously about their future join us in The Huddle,” Mr McLeod said.
“This Work Expo was an ideal way for participants to network with local businesses, think about potential career opportunities and learn more about how to further their education in a great setting here at Arden St.
“A big thank you to everyone who came and made the event a huge success and the enthusiasm they brought.”
As part of the afternoon, AFL Multicultural Ambassador, Azmeena Hussein facilitated a fantastic panel, and Angela Dressler from Victoria University also hosted a free job ready workshop, with plenty of helpful advice for young job seekers.
