Adelaide will be sweating on scans after midfielder Brad Crouch and stand-in captain Tom Doedee both suffered hamstring injuries against Essendon. 

Brad Crouch had his right hamstring iced up during the second term, while stand-in skipper Tom Doedee tried to get going again in the third quarter, but eventually pulled the pin.

"Both hamstrings but we don't know to what extent," Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks said.

"Talking to Tom post game he's reasonably confident he got it early and hopefully didn't through go for too long with a hammy, but Brad I'm not sure about yet but we'll have to wait and see."

The loss to Essendon marks Adelaide's eighth for the season, but the Crows showed fight after losing two players.

"I thought the boys showed some really good character to fight it out," Nicks said.

"Polish and finish and inflicting damage or the lack thereof it hurts you eventually.

"We're our own worst enemies at the moment."

Crouch's brother Matt was part of a bizarre double report right on the half-time siren, after tussling with Essendon forward Jacob Townsend.

The two had each other by their jumpers and a collision of heads saw them both leaving the field with bloodied faces and a nervous wait ahead of the Match Review Officer's findings on Monday.

Neither coach wanted to comment on the incident.
