Precious memories
North Melbourne supporters reflected on their greatest memories from 2012 on the club's Facebook page.
North Melbourne supporters reflected on their greatest memories from 2012 on our Facebook page:
Tim Anderson - Wells coming back from a life threatening illness and then having one of his best seasons and still being a danger in the midfield
Mark Neill - When Kieran harper ran down and tackled what Collingwood was calling the fastest thing they have seen in the AFL, and then listening to the commentators have to eat their words after harper buried him that was the best
Melanie Scully - Win over the reigning premiers Geelong. Never been so pumped about a home and away match in my life, and it was the first sign of real improvement for season 2012!
Dan White - When boomer sparked up in the 3rd quarter against the bombers! 3 goals and a screamer from the lil man!
Andrew Howden - Definitely Drew Petrie kicking five goals in the last quarter to win the game for the Roos against Richmond.
Frank Tout - The gutsy way that they came back after the Hawthorn debacle, full credit to all.
Rohit Fonseca - I was visiting Melbourne over the summer from the US and my first Aussie rules game was the win over Adelaide! Go Kangaroos!
Andy Lock - Watching footy in my home city of Hobart. What a belter of a game! Awesome day.
Steven Chilton - When Andrew swallow got the ball in the back 50 and we linked up handballing all the way down to drew to kick the winner against Richmond.
Gavin Oliphant - The chance to take my Son to open training and get a photograph with Drew Petrie he is still talking about it at school even after our loss... THANK YOU
Adam Shiers - There was plenty of good moments to consider. A few for me would be the Cunnington bump on the Western Bulldogs player. Or the Leigh Adams shoulder charge. The Collingwood win was definately most memorable not only for the supporters but the club as well.
Nick McCann - The development of Patch and Shaun Atley. Atley's pace and run from defence. Patch in and under all season.
Shaun Mitchell - Watching Spuds chase down tackle against St Kilda from the stands, pure inspiration!
Pete Dillon - I think that first win over a serious team after we got slammed by the hawks.. The 32 point win over Adelaide in round 13 - this was the start of the rest of the season for us. Loved it.
Glenn McMillan - Lachie Hansen against Essendon. After a major knock in the first quarter. He pushed through the game whilst embodying the shinboner spirit. And even slotted a few crucial goals at clutch moments.
Cindy Lynch - I'm making this post on behalf on my son Angus, who is a standalone Kanga's supporter in our family, but he's completely devoted and when they beat Geelong, he was thrilled because that's his Dad's team and for Angus it proved that sticking with your team through everything is so worth it!!!!!!!! I think it was my favourite moment too! I got to see his pride.
Daniel Elwell - Being able to fly home from Townsville, where I serve in the Australian army, to Tasmania to take my father and little brother to watch the Roos make their debut at blunstone arena and take down GWS :)
Jamie Stevens - When boomer was lining up for goal 55m out and sold the candy ran around the mark and goaled from 45 original boomer ♥
Adam Januszkiewicz - I'd say the win over St. Kilda in round 14. Down at Quarter time and came back for a comprehensive win. It was also the time when we started to gather a bit of respect accross the league and started cementing ourselves as a finals team.
Tandy Cooke - Favourite moment was when I had to explain to a newcomer why I was a north supporter and I realised there are so many things to be proud of.. Our history, our clubs culture and ethics, and the fact that we have survived and succeeded in spite of the challenges we have faced.
John Hamilton - sitting at the MCG with my 9 year old son Lachlan, and watching him jump up and down with excitement as North got up and beat Richmond. This was the first live game he has been to where North has one and it is something that he and I will never forget. We live in Gippsland and try to get to at least one game a year.
Shane Seamer - The sound of the crowd when Thomas kicked that goal from the boundary line against Carlton in round 16
Jordan Storm Baldacchino - Two come to mind: The roar of the crowd when the final siren went in the win against Collingwood and the gutsy, Shinboner-win over Essendon, with 3 players down in the 4th quarter, when the game was in the balance, for all the boys to stand up and power home was, for me, the highlight of the year
Adam Milky Huntly = I’m doin this for my two year old son. His stand out monent would of been watching the roos play with his poppy who is a long time member of the club :)
Rory Craddock - Patch Adams going for the HARD BALL on the wing in the dying seconds against Richmond! He forced a contest which stopped Richmond going forward for a chance to win it! Absolutely Brilliant. TRUE NORTH MELBOURNE SPIRIT WAS RUNNING THROUGH HIS VEINS!! Best moment. Can't wait to watch you play next year Patch.
Joshua Fiorentino - Watching North Melbourne play at Subiaco for the finals. Regardless of the score, I got to watch my favourite team play in the finals for the first time since 2008, and also my first time watching them live for the finals. Shinboner spirit!
Maggi Herd - My favorite memory of the year was to see the boys play with heart and passion, they proved that they believed in themselves, even though the end result in the last game was disappointing but they can only go forward from that.
Aubrey Phillipa Veuve Hamlett - My favourite moment was taking my boyfriend to a Roos training session and getting the jersey I gave him for his birthday signed. He was stoked and the players were lovely!
Jack Stammers - The fact that North had the greatest percentage increase of all clubs in membership for 2012. Fantastic news moment for the Shinboners and its growth into 2013!
Jack Roberts - Being in the Aussie Bar in Phuket, Thailand watching the Round 3 clash against Geelong. Befriending another NM supporter who it turned out lives 5 minutes from me in Melbourne. Being totally thrilled by the magnificent display the boys put on and converting the whole bar to North supporters while the frosty Singha beers flowed and made each passing minute seem ever more worthy of celebration. It was a magic couple of hours, even the Cats fans there were happy for us.
