Jack Ziebell, Ben Warren and Sam Wright are self-confessed movie buffs.
Talented on the football field, the trio also considers itself quite savvy with the latest offerings from Hollywood - so much so, kangaroos.com.au has asked for some insight.
For the next few months, Jack, Ben and Sam will be giving you their take on the latest blockbusters to hit the silver screen and they will also dive deep into their own movie collections for in depth reviews and recommendations.
This week, Jack Ziebell headed to Village Cinemas to watch SALT.

If you want to get me interested in a movie - cast Angelina Jolie as the lead actor. She is stunning and has some serious sex appeal. However, I’m not convinced that SALT was the best fit for her. I don’t think it’s ever going to happen between me and Angelina but I’m allowed to dream aren’t I?
I think Brad's just a bit better looking than me and I’m clearly no threat to him…but then again, she did go out with Billy Bob Thornton! Lately though, she has gone for the pin-up boys, whereas I'm just the rugged looking nice guy.
When Sam Wright, Ben Warren and I walked out we were all a little bit disappointed there wasn't a little more romance in the movie. Yes, we play football, we’re supposed to be big and tough but hey, we’re not just a pieces of meat…we like a bit of romance too.
If there was one thing that could improve in the movie it would definitely be to have a little romantic story line in there somewhere.
Not only was Sam Wright disappointed at the lack of a love story, he was also shattered that there was no rain in any of the scenes. This may sound weird, but Sam must be the biggest fan of rain in the world. He's from the country and when he used to go to sleep at night he used to snuggle up in bed and listen to the rain. He also lived on an orchard and no doubt has nightmares of drought.
If you want my opinion (and by reading this I take it that you do), they should create a new genre in her honour and call it the “Romantic-Action-Thriller” category. Angelina (Yes, I feel comfortable enough to be on a first name basis with her for many reasons which I won’t go into) should only be cast in Romantic-Action-Thrillers from this day forth.
I’ve seen her in the drama Changeling and the Sci-Fi Animation Beowulf and the action flick Wanted just to name a few, but have decided that she should be responsible for a new wave of movies called Romantic-Action-Thrillers.
So what is a Romantic-Action-Thriller? Well, think of Angelina in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. It had romance, action and plenty of thrills and spills - now that’s what I’m talking about. But let’s take it up another notch and then you’d have the ultimate Romantic-Action-Thriller.
As far as SALT goes - well, it was full of action and had lots of killing, lots of shooting, lots of guns, lots of fights, lots of crashes and a massive twist…but there is no spoiler in here so please, read on.
SALT is an action along the lines of Shooter and is very different from your typical run-of-the-mill action movie because it keeps you guessing the whole way through. You’re never quite sure if you should believe Angelina’s character or not.
Angelina’s Russian accent is unbelievable and she actually spoke Russian for a short time in one particular scene…if you'd never seen her before, you'd think she is Russian.
There's a couple of scenes in the movie that provide little hints, so keep an eye out for those. Sam, Ben and I were right onto these…not much gets passed us!
So if you like Die-Hard and those types of action films, then rush out to see SALT - you will be on the edge of your seat and thoroughly entertained.
I'll give it a 4 out of 5.
Salt opens in cinemas from August 19.
