Saturday’s practice match between VFL sides North Ballarat and Werribee looms as the perfect opportunity for several young Kangaroos to put their hand up for selection in the remaining NAB Cup games.

Liam Anthony, Aaron Mullett, Cameron Pedersen and Ben Speight will all forego a week’s rest having played last Friday night and instead, will gain more valuable game time.

The likes of Aaron Black, Cameron Delaney and Ben Warren were all in Friday night’s squad, but having been overlooked by senior coach Brad Scott, the trio will have plenty to prove at Eureka Stadium.

Malcolm Lynch will be on show for the first time since joining the Roos having spent much of the pre-season on the sidelines.

The pacey left-footer’s minutes will no doubt be limited after hip surgery following last year’s VFL campaign in which he won a premiership with Port Melbourne.

North’s opening-round pick Brad McKenzie will also be in action as he targets a spot against the Swans in New South Wales next week.
