Assistant coach Darren Crocker believes North Melbourne fans can expect more excitement from the team’s crop of youngsters in the not too distant future.

"I think it gave our members and supporters a snapshot of how Brad wants the guys to play. Our contested ball was very good, our intensity at the opposition was very high and we moved the ball quite quickly at times and gave our forwards a real chance."

Following a 14 point-win over reigning premier Geelong on Sunday, Crocker predicted it wouldn't take long for the football world to realise the talent and ability of players such as Liam Anthony, Levi Greenwood, Cruize Garlett, Leigh Adams and Jack Ziebell.

"We know what these guys are capable of. The wider football community probably don't realise the actual talent we've got within this football club. It's only a matter of time before those players bring it to the attention of the wider football public."

A hand injury suffered in the early part of pre-season and a heavy knock to the ribs early in the match did little to hamper Anthony's ball-winning ability as he racked up 38 possessions in a new look midfield group.

Ziebell also proved instrumental in the first half with his attack on the football and cool head under pressure. It was the first time Ziebell and Anthony played together but they weren't the only ones to impress with Crocker quick to acknowledge the efforts of other inexperienced players.

"Sam Wright, Todd Goldstein, Levi Greenwood continue to grow. Robbie Tarrant coming in and playing down back, the list goes on. Brad's always said that there's no limitations on these guys and we hope that they just grow and come on quickly "

For Tarrant, the younger brother of Chris, it was his first appearance in North Melbourne colours after injuries halted his progress since being drafted in 2007.

"For Robbie it's just a matter of getting some continuity with his football, he's had none since he walked in the door. It's been frustrating for him and for us because we know the talent that actually lies underneath. It's good for him to get a really good pre-season under his belt and get an opportunity in the first round of the NAB Cup. We expect him to continue to grow and get some real confidence and belief from that."

The Kangaroos 2nd round NAB Cup clash is against the Dockers at Etihad Stadium on Sunday and while it promises to be another tough challenge, Crocker says whatever the result; it's a great time to be a part of the North Melbourne journey.

"It's fantastic, it's a really exciting place to be around at the moment and it has been since Brad was appointed. We've got a brand new facility and a new young and vibrant coach teaching a really strong method for our players to play their football. Everyone that follows North Football Club should be really excited at the moment."
