Brad Scott says he's excited by the addition of four talented youngsters to North Melbourne's list.

On North's selections:
"We think we've got a pretty balanced list. The developing ruckman was something we would have liked, but in terms of talent we just wanted the best player. We would have taken four of the same types if we thought they were the best players."

Shaun Atley:
"We were delighted. In a lot of ways we discounted Shaun. We didn't even interview him at the draft combine because we were sure he'd be a top ten pick.

"To have him available at 17 was a real bonus for us. We picked the best available player, but it just so happened he's addressed an important need for us with his midfield speed.

"He's a player that's unique because he can play inside ball-winning midfield type roles, but he can also win the ball on the outside and penetrate the game with some real speed.

"He's got great lateral movement, and we think he'll complement Bastinac, Cunnington and Swallow and these types of players."

Kieran Harper:
"He's got really explosive speed and can kick goals from outside 50. He kicked four goals for Victoria against WA in the championships.

"He's a really explosive player and someone we hope can almost fulfill the role of Brent Harvey when he retires."

Cameron Delaney:
"We really wanted a key defender if we could. We went in with a strategy of picking the best available talent at that pick, but to have Cameron there available and address our need of a key defender, was fantastic.

"I'm sure he'll enjoy coming down and playing with his older brother Luke, who's on our rookie list."

Ben Mabon
"Ben is a developing ruckman and someone we are rapt to have on our list.

"While we're really happy with Todd Goldstein and Hamish McIntosh, we don't really have a developing ruckman on our list. Ben's certainly a quality developing ruckman and we'll spend some time developing him
