ET: Keeping the intensity
Second half fade-outs have proven the Western Bulldogs’ downfall in recent weeks, but Daniel Giansiracusa says it’s a problem that‘s been addressed ahead of Sat
“Our focus (against North) will be on going stronger for longer and if we can do that, we’ll give ourselves every chance,” the experienced forward told the club’s website.
The Bulldogs conceded nine goals to two after half-time in the loss to the Saints, and Giansiracusa believes gaining, then maintaining the ascendency in the midfield by limiting the impact of the Kangaroos' key-ball winners is pivotal.
“North Melbourne are in great form and we’ll need to work pretty hard to limit clean inside 50’s to their dangerous forwards among other things.
“They have some depth through their midfield which we will need to keep in check.”
North coach Brad Scott echoed Giansiracusa's sentiments at Aegis Park on Friday, highlighting the significance of the battle in the centre.
"It'll be a big job for our midfielders - as it is most weeks,” Scott said.
“Our forwards have been getting on top of our opposition but if we don't get them enough supply then Lake and these guys are going to have a field day.
"The combination of Boyd and Griffen really got on top of our guys (last time). We'll tighten that up.
"(But) we don't want to go away too much from the way we've been playing because it has been pretty successful for us over the last couple of months."
