North Melbourne has selected Mitchell Wilkins with its fourth pick in the 2012 National Draft.

Bryce Lewis: Mitch is a medium defender who didn't play a lot of footy at Norwood because of his school commitments with St Peter's College. But when he was available [Norwood coach] Nathan Bassett was very keen to him into the reserves because he's a very creative ball-user and can rebound and set the play up across half-back.

He hurt his shoulder mid-season and didn't play any footy after that. But he's another player who we feel has a lot of improvement in him. He's a really smart ball-user and may provide us with something a bit different in defence, as he can play on a mix of opponents. But he's going to take some time and has a slight build.

Donald McDonald: People haven't seen a lot of (Wilkins), he's been playing private schoolboy footy in South Australia and he's been injured but he'll be a good acquisition for us as well.
