An intense 1km time trial around Princes Park was quickly followed with a light skills session at Arden Street for a small group of North’s younger players.
All 1-3 year players were involved in today’s pre-season training with Strength and Conditioning coach Paul Turk blown away by many of the results.
“These kids are really setting an impressive agenda as far as pre-season training goes and the level of output they’re giving,” Turk told kangaroos.com.au.
“They haven’t held back an inch and are really having a crack. The application from all the boys has been sensational and you can really see the hunger and competitiveness amongst them.”
Nathan Grima, Alan Obst, Ben Warren and Robbie Tarrant were again the standouts during the shorter time trial.
Warren’s effort was of particular note with the 20 year-old still in the rehab group.
“His run was extremely surprising given where he’s at with his recovery from a broken leg. He finished in the top five,” Turk commented.
“I think it’s all going to make for an interesting Monday when the entire list returns and certain individuals try to impose themselves.”
North Melbourne champion Brett Allison joined his new colleagues this morning after relocating from Sydney.
The former Swans’ assistant took some time out to get to know the playing list and also reacquainted himself with some familiar faces at Arden Street.
