The Huddle’s Indigenous Academy has grown! Open to Indigenous boys and girls aged 11-14, the Academy will teach the skills of football, basketball and netball, with sessions run by North Melbourne footballers, Melbourne Tigers’ basketballers, and Melbourne Vixens’ netballers. Hone your skills, develop your leadership capabilities, discover your strengths, and work with some of Australia’s finest athletes in the sport of your choice.

The 2012 program will include mentoring by North Melbourne player Lindsay Thomas.

Activities commence 10am and run until 4pm over two days during the Term 2 and 3 school holidays - Monday 9th July and Monday 1st October. These sessions will be held at the Kangaroos’ home ground at Aegis Park. All participants and their families will also be invited to attend a North Melbourne home game against Melbourne on Saturday 28th July.

All 2012 Indigenous Academy participants will receive a team jumper (North Melbourne Football Club, Melbourne Tigers Basketball, or Melbourne Vixens Netball - depending on chosen sport).

Numbers are strictly limited so those interested are encouraged to apply early.

Who can apply?
To apply, you must:
• Be aged between 11 and 14, and be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
• Have permission from a parent or guardian
• Be able to attend all sessions (see dates above)
• Regularly attend school.

1. Name, address, email, phone number and date of birth
2. Which sport you want to apply for
a. Football (boys only)
b. Netball (girls only)
c. Basketball (girls and boys)
3. Why you are applying for the Academy - what is your interest in sport, and what would you like to get out of the experience?
4. The name and contact details (phone number) of someone who can tell us about you (a Referee). This might be a teacher, a coach or a family friend.
5. Name and contact details for a parent or guardian.

You can send anything else you like with your email - a picture, a photograph, or some more information about yourself. Just make sure you answer the questions above.
