NORTH Melbourne's big win over the Demons on Sunday could be the catalyst for a strong finish to the season, according to Leigh Adams.

After a quiet start, Adams worked himself into the game to finish with 21 touches, and the 21-year-old is confident he and his teammates will take a lot away from the 62-point victory.

"We've had some young blokes come in this year, and that was their first win. To experience that will hopefully give them a bit more confidence, and the whole group as well, so we can get a few more before the end of the season," Adams said.

"We've got a really young playing group, and the more wins we get before the year is out, the more confidence we're going to get and take into (the 2010) pre-season. That will be a big boost for us going into next year.

"It was a bit of a lacklustre first quarter from both teams. We couldn't really get going, but after that we were able to put our foot on the pedal and finished off our work with some goals, which was nice with the style of footy that we want to play."

It was Adams' first taste of success since round six of the 2007 season, when he played two games as a rookie.

Fate dealt Adams a cruel blow when he required a knee reconstruction ahead of the 2008 season, but after his third game this year, he has complete confidence in his body again.

"It was nice to get out there and have a good run," he said.

"It was my first game in three weeks, and obviously it was a fair layoff before that, so I was really happy to get out there and more importantly get a win because it's been a long time coming.

"The body feels really good. I've done everything I possibly can to get it right, and I feel like it's really come good now. I just want to put a few games together now and say that I can play at the level.

"I've sort of been in and out a few times now, so I'd really like to be able to cement my spot and get some confidence going into the pre-season."
