North Melbourne’s newest recruits will be split between the club’s two VFL affiliates next season.

Ben Brown, Luke McDonald and Kayne Turner will call Werribee home, while Trent Dumont and Joel Tippett have been aligned to North Ballarat.

For Brown, the ‘Bees Avalon Airport Oval base will have a familiar feel having been the springboard for his progression to AFL ranks.

The 199 centimetre big man plied his trade mainly as a forward this season booting 29 goals, and with Daniel Currie and Majak Daw among Werribee’s ruck options will again be likely to hold down a key-post.

It’s a similar story for McDonald, who enjoyed a year’s experience at VFL level before being drafted as a father-son selection by North.

Both he and Trent Dumont have been earmarked by Brad Scott as potential debutants next year, but the latter will no doubt be welcomed into the Roosters’ midfield early on.

Dumont boasts senior experience at SANFL team Norwood and won’t have any trouble coming up against the bigger bodies with his already solid frame.

The departure of Luke Delaney means Tippett will be a handy inclusion as a tall defender for Gerard Fitzgerald’s team and as a mature-age rookie he’ll be looking to make an early impact.

Robin Nahas has also been assigned to North Ballarat, while Nick Dal Santo is on Werribee’s side of the ledger.
