How is pre-season training going for you?
Good. Obviously with Ballarat we started pre-season training last week, so second week in, it's actually the week off but most of the boys have been in because it's hard to miss most of the running sessions two weeks in a row.
Has it been hard?
Yes. For me, once we finished the Grand Final I had the month off running because I hurt my knee during last year. Last week was the first week running and usually the first couple of weeks running is the toughest.

Talk us through the pain you feel in pre-season?
This year's been a bit different, we normally do those long distance runs but it's been a bit more about intensity this year so they're the hardest runs. We've been doing a lot of 1km's and they're the ones you finish and feel like throwing up.
What is 2010 going to mean for Ed Lower?
It's a big year for me, obviously I had a pretty disappointing year last year. I got injured and then struggled to find form and fitness so this year's probably a make or break year for me and I'm well aware of that, so I'm doing everything I can now to hopefully benefit in the season.

What improvements do you need to make?
I'll need to work on my fitness because I want to play in the midfield and I think this year with the structure for pre-season it's going to help me in terms of running in the midfield so intensive running is the key.
Is 2010 going to be your year?
I hope 2010 is going to be my year, and I'm going to do everything I can to make it my year.
