Already set to miss the opening fortnight of the season through suspension, Drew Petrie received a double blow when he injured his foot at training on the eve of round one.

It was bad news for the vice-captain and he was initially ruled out for six weeks but didn't make his return until round ten against the Dockers.

Petrie pulled down six marks and even expressed his relief at getting through the game unscathed, but soreness in his other foot meant he was again on the sidelines, this time for a month.

Things couldn't have got much worse for the 28 year-old when in round 14, he broke down again during his second attempted comeback for the season. Petrie suffered his third foot fracture in four months, bringing a about a premature end to his 2010 campaign and causing the year to be nothing short of a nightmare.

AFL.com.au’s Steve Lavell says:
Year to forget for the club's most important player. Broke his left foot before the season started and suffered the same injury to his right foot in two failed comebacks. Left a gaping hole in the forward line.

I rate Drew Petrie highly. It was a shame that he had so much bad luck with injuries this year.
