Centre Springs to Life
While the construction of the Learning and Life Centre continues at Arden Street, its Executive Director James Demetriou has been diligently working behind the

This week, three significant appointments have been made.
Mr Sash Herceg will join North Melbourne on October 12, fulfilling the important role of Multicultural & Community Development Officer. Herceg brings a wealth of experience to the Centre having already held a similar position at the Western Bulldogs since 2007. He will be responsible for planning and implementing a wide range of programs for the CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) and socially disadvantaged members of the community. He will also work with the AFL Multicultural Unit to promote and manage joint programs.
Also starting on October 12 is Mrs Mairead Hannan who will take up the position as Education Programs Co-ordinator. Already with strong family ties to the club, Hannan has extensive experience as a primary school teacher, most recently at North Melbourne Primary School where she has taught since 2001. She has also held the position of ESL and Multicultural Education Co-ordinator and has led a range of significant multicultural education projects and events. She has strong relationships within local schools, the community and the Department of Education.
Also joining the team in Executive Support is Ms Beverley Mackie-Coop. Commencing her role this week, Mackie-Coop has a vast experience with community development, education and business sectors. Most recently she has been with Swinburne University, and the Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship, initially responsible for all postgraduate recruitment in the Marketing and Business Development area.
“This is a highly experienced and talented group and each member is a leader in their own right,” Mr Demetriou added.
“These individuals will make an enormous contribution to the development of the Learning and Life Centre, its programs and the thousands of people we will engage over the coming years.
