August 1, 2019; after impressing in his term as interim coach, Rhyce Shaw was officially appointed North's senior coach for the following three seasons.
A day later, and the Roos were back in the timeslot they made so famous for a Friday night blockbuster.
Alastair Clarkson's Hawks were still in the mix for the finals, while North looked to finish the season on a strong note.Β

We took on the Hawks on a Friday night at Marvel Stadium, as Rhyce Shaw officially became senior coach.

Shaw had already led his team to impressive victories over Richmond and Collingwood in his short tenure as interim coach, with a brand of relentless, tough, contested footy on show.
But after three losses in a row, North was on the backfoot early. 23 minutes into the first quarter, Hawthorn had kicked the first four goals, and it looked as though it could be a tough night at the office.
Finally Mason Wood broke the Roos' deadlock late in the term, and the comeback began.Β
