Friendships will be put to the test on Friday night as Robbie Tarrant and North Melbourne come up against former Roo Aaron Edwards for the first time.

Edwards is set to take the field in Tigers’ colours, but his housemate says there are no hard feelings following his departure from Aegis Park.

“I’m looking forward to playing against him (Edwards). I’m sure there’ll be a bit of banter out there,” Tarrant told NMFC.com.au.

Edwards left the Kangaroos during the 2012 trade period after playing 82 games in six seasons.

“He left on really good terms with the club. Hopefully he goes well for Richmond, except when he plays us in the second game.”

Cameron Pedersen could also line up in opposition colours against his former team, as North takes on Melbourne in game one.

“It’s been a long four or five months in the pre-season. This is what you look forward to and the best part of pre-season is probably the finish, and the start of the season proper,” Tarrant added.

While getting through unscathed is important, the key-forward says North is eager to kick-start its campaign with two wins.

“You want to play your best footy against other oppositions, and it’s not like an intraclub where you’re not going into packs. Hopefully we have a good hit-out.

“There’s going to be a few tired boys out there. No matter how much running you do in the pre-season, you always seem to blow up in the first ten minutes.

“We’ll just work on the structures and the things (Scotty) Brad Scott has implemented this year. “

North’s squad of 34 will be announced on NMFC.com.au on Wednesday.
