Cameron Delaney has sent a message to the club's match committee after being named best-on-ground in North Ballarat's convincing win over Bendigo Gold on Sunday.

The defender had 27 disposals as the Roosters prevailed by a massive 118 points at Eureka Stadium.

NMFC.com.au caught up with development coach Josh Drummond for his analysis on the Kangaroos' players involved in the game.

Cam Delaney - 27 disposals, 8 marks 9 handball receives
“Cam was a real standout. It was his best game for the year.

“He’s been ticking along pretty well the last few weeks since coming back from injury, and this week we released him a little bit higher given Bendigo didn’t have an overly tall forward line.

“He was terrific with his body work and marking. He ended up with eight (marks) which isn’t an amazing number but they were all intercept marks and contested situations.

“We really challenged him to get involved in our offensive movement and take the game on and he did that.

“His big strength is his athleticism and he runs really well so he can play on lots of different types.”

Luke Delaney - 15 disposals, 8 spoils
“Keys was really good again. He was really good at the contest, spoilt strongly and didn’t get beaten in a contest all day.

“He continues to play at a really high level and he’s doing everything that’s asked of him. It’s really just circumstance at the moment that’s keeping him out (of the senior side), nothing he’s doing wrong.

“He’s got to bide his time and hopefully his opportunity will come sooner rather than later. From his end he’s doing everything he can to put his name up. I know the match committee’s really impressed with the way he’s going about it.”

Taylor Garner - 19 disposals, 6 marks, 5 tackles
“He’s three or four weeks post coming back from injury and you can see in his game he’s able to maintain it for a bit longer.

“He’s still learning and he’s been playing a few roles, but on the weekend we kept him mainly as that high-forward getting up to stoppages and pressuring which he does really well. He’s a terrific tackler; he tackles with real intent and aggression and it’s a real standout in his game.

“He worked up really hard and pressured up, but he also got to the fall of the ball and was able to get dangerous. He had three goal assists in the first quarter.

“It was really positive the way he went about it.”

Ben Mabon - 17 disposals, 7 marks, 35 hit-outs
“Mabes was good. I thought he was really good at popping up in on our offensive ball movement.

“He had 17 touches which is good numbers for a big fella. I thought he was able to find all the spots to pop up and into. He really helped our ball movement.

“He was a little bit ill-disciplined. He gave away five free kicks. He’s really been working on his aggression and his following up, and really being a second and third effort player but now it’s just finding the right mix.”

Max Warren - 12 disposals, 6 marks, 3 tackles
“Maxy only played really the first half. His legs seized up so we pulled the pin on him just after half-time.

“He was terrific for that first half, really attacked the game and tackled well.”

Mitch Wilkins - 12 disposals, 7 handball receives
“Mitchy played a different role up on the wing for the whole game.

“It’s something we’ve been trying to change up and with Brad McKenzie and LA (Liam Anthony) out of the team it gave the opportunity to slide him up from half-back to a wing.

“He had a fair bit to learn. He hasn’t played there at all this year, so in terms of his understanding of the role and some of his running patterns were really good. He was pretty solid for us all day.

“A big thing for us is his tackling. Whether he’s playing as a defender or on the ball he needs to be nailing his tackles.”
