With the second NAB Cup round in Townsville and no TV coverage, North fans will still have the opportunity to see some young Kangaroos in action this weekend as VFL clubs begin to ramp up their preparations.  The second tier league will start a series of practice matches, with North affiliates Werribee and North Ballarat in action.

In particular, North’s freshest faces will finally be on show with all the club’s draftees named to play.  While Mason Wood was a participant in the club’s intraclub match, an injury in the opening minutes prevented him from putting his skills on display.

The Tigers will play Williamstown on Friday afternoon and those not playing against the Gold Coast Suns, will get a run.  That means the likes of Ayden Kennedy and Ben Speight will be at Whitten Oval as well as North newcomers Wood, Taylor Hine and rookie Tim McGenniss.

It could also be the time when Scott West chooses to unleash former Swan, Liston Medal fancy and North development coach Jarred Moore.

For the Roosters, Cam and Luke Delaney, Brad McKenzie, Cam Richardson, Tom Curran, Ben Mabon and Max Warren will take on Port Melbourne, while Mitch Wilkins, Taylor Garner and Eric Wallace will represent their VFL club for the first time at Eureka Stadium.
