The right man for the job
James Brayshaw has come out in support of North’s football department leadership.
The North Melbourne Chairman said Brad Scott was, without question, a sensational leader and the right coach for the club.
“Make no mistake, Brad Scott is the absolute perfect fit for us and we couldn’t be happier with him. So some of that speculation is wrongly placed,” Brayshaw stated defiantly on Triple M’s Rush Hour program on Wednesday afternoon.
He also defended the Board’s decision earlier this year to resign Scott until the end of 2016.
“He’s the perfect fit for our footy club. The strategic path that we’re on is a good one, we’ve got to see it through. Where strategy doesn’t work, is where you jump out of it and try and go another way and you can’t do that. So we know where we’re going, we know we’re not there yet…
“You don’t live week to week. You strategically look a lot further out than the next game you play, you have to because footy is such a reactionary business anyway (and) if the Boards and Presidents start behaving like that, then you’re a shambles, you’re all over the bloody place.
“So we know what it looks like a year out, two years out and we have great faith in that so you’ve just got to hold the line and be very confident that you’ve got good people on board, which we are.
“The challenge with our footy club with Brad, who is as I said outstanding, is to make sure we give him enough resource(s) whether that’s with people or financial resource(s), for him to achieve what we know he can achieve for us.”
Brayshaw also rejected claims North was in denial regarding its failure to capitalise on big leads and allow opposition teams to overrun it in several games this season.
“No-one at our footy club has their head buried in the sand and doesn’t understand what’s been going on.”
“We still make mistakes and we’ve got to learn not to make them.”
