North Melbourne fell on Saturday night to the Adelaide Crows to the tune of six goals, playing good football in patches but not often or consistently enough.

On a night when many of North’s players disappointed, with coach Brad Scott admitting that some were 'terrible', one who worked hard all night was living legend Brent Harvey.

Harvey collected 31 disposals for the night and kicked two goals on his way to a score of 126 fantasy points, his second-highest tally for the year.

This total puts him up to an average of 105 points for the season, and confirms his status as the number 1 forward in AFL Fantasy, almost 5 points ahead of the next best available in Sydney’s Luke Parker.

The downside is that Harvey is also fantasy’s most expensive forward, priced at $538,265 in Fantasy Classic. Simply said though, he’s a must-have in 2014.

The other fantasy highlight for North was seeing Levi Greenwood notch his fourth 100+ score in four weeks, garnering 32 disposals and kicking a goal. He managed 109 points from his performance, and kept Patrick Dangerfield to a relatively quiet night.

Ben Cunnington also had another solid night at the office, collecting 24 disposals, winning 4 clearances and laying 7 tackles - a team-high for North Melbourne, on his way to 98 points.

It’s the continuation of a solid year so far for the number 10, who is averaging just a tick under 95 points per game.

Lindsay Thomas was the highlight of the night for those watching the game, booting four goals, but could only translate that into 74 points. He’s an ace around goals, but his efforts just don’t get rewarded in fantasy terms.

Todd Goldstein managed 85 points, breaking even in the ruck against Sam Jacobs, and Nick Dal Santo scored 80 points from his 27 disposals. But it was a quiet night for most of North’s fantasy players.

Leigh Adams (54), Jack Ziebell (51), and Drew Petrie (47) were all well below their best and will be eyeing improved form when the Kangaroos face Melbourne at the MCG on Sunday.

Around the Grounds
It was a weekend of highs and lows for fantasy coaches. On Sunday afternoon we were greeted with some unwelcome news as first Steve Johnson and then Dayne Beams, both of them premium level fantasy midfielders, were removed from their squads as late outs.

Despite Johnson’s absence the Cats had an easy day against the Saints, with Jimmy Bartel (148) and Matthew Stokes (141) providing two of the top three fantasy scores of the weekend. The game also saw young cat Darcy Lang debut as the sub and kick his first goal on his way to 57 fantasy points.

While the Cats survived without Johnson, the Magpies didn’t fare so well minus Beams, falling victim to a rampaging Bulldog outfit. They were led by Tom Liberatore (126), Jackson Macrae (117) and Liam Jones (112) who booted four goals in the Bulldogs’ big win.

Top score honours for the round when to Essendon’s Brendon Goddard who managed 157 trying to lead his side to victory.

Despite Goddard's efforts the Bombers fell just short, with Melbourne kicking a late goal through Christian Salem to seal a one-point win.
