Elimination Final v Essendon
- 19 disposals, 5 tackles, 3 Syd Barker votes
Season in review
Macmillan started 2014 extremely well; one of North Melbourne’s best players through the first two and a half games.
Three votes in the Syd Barker Medal for each of Round 1 and 2 indicated his form, playing off half-back and pushing up on to the wing at times.
However a fractured fibula in the victory over Port Adelaide brought his season to a halt. What was initially pegged to be a 6-8 week injury dragged on, as the troublesome bone refused to heal.
Eventually, after a long road back, Macmillan made his return for Werribee in mid-August. Two impressive outings for the Tigers earned him a recall for the Round 23 clash against Melbourne.
A solid performance against the Demons earned the defender a spot in the Elimination Final victory over Essendon, but the following week he suffered a hamstring injury against Geelong.
It ruled Macmillan out of the Preliminary Final against Sydney, prematurely ending his season after only six games.
